I am. Not that I knew it before today but. Yeah. I went through Mom's stuff finally and...it's all there. Letters to him she never sent, stuff in her journals. Don't ask me where he is because I don't know. Mom left him in Ireland and as far as I can tell never got back in contact with him afterwards.

I don't know much about him actually. Never met him and ma doesn't talk much about him. I heard something about a break in the family and well, it's not the sort of thing you bring up in family gatherings.

[He laughs, a little bitter, before sighing]

I can imagine. Ma's going to want to meet you, you know. So I'll have to drag you home with me one of these days. She's big on family. So's Uncle Thorir now that I think about it.

Yeah, Thorir's the one who told me that hey, I've apparently got a whole other side to the family I've never met and they're not Irish like I thought. I took him a photo asking if he knew the guy in it because it was labeled "Thorsson" and...well, yeah.

Uncle's probably already planning on dragging you off to Iceland too, just to warn you. Probably me as well, since I haven't been back there in years.

We're not THAT tall. Uncle's the tallest one. Lots of good food, since Uncle and Aunt are good cooks, kids messing around. You know, family dinner stuff.

A couple of days. A week, how's that? I figure you'd need some time to think things through.

Dude, I can't even reach the coat hooks without stretching. I have to be a good foot shorter than most of you. Have to be.

Maybe? This is all kind of a lot. New job, going through Mom's stuff, new relatives--which reminds me I should probably call the ones I already had and see if any of them want to explain why Mom never told me the truth. Ugh.

[He sighs and you can almost hear him running his hand over his face. Softly, like he's forgotten that Fil can probably hear him:]

It's fine. I've got loads of cousins from both sides of my family...my da's got two brothers and they have kids too. So what's one more?

It's got to be way weirder for you, finding out you've got this huge family you never knew about.
