We're not THAT tall. Uncle's the tallest one. Lots of good food, since Uncle and Aunt are good cooks, kids messing around. You know, family dinner stuff.

Maybe? This is all kind of a lot. New job, going through Mom's stuff, new relatives--which reminds me I should probably call the ones I already had and see if any of them want to explain why Mom never told me the truth. Ugh.

[He sighs and you can almost hear him running his hand over his face. Softly, like he's forgotten that Fil can probably hear him:]

It's fine. I've got loads of cousins from both sides of my family...my da's got two brothers and they have kids too. So what's one more?

It's got to be way weirder for you, finding out you've got this huge family you never knew about.

I wasn't even thinking about that but that just makes it worse. I was more worried about my loud, territorial family meeting people related to the guy Mom told them ditched her.

Now that I think about it...OUR Icelandic cousins can be just as bad.

[He wonders when this is all going to hit him. He obviously can't think of Thorir and Fil as family just yet, but sooner or later it's going to hit him and he doesn't want to know how badly it will be]

My Da did. He and Ma had an agreement, she gets to name all the girls and he all the boys. Except there were three girls ahead of me and when I came along one of my Uncles told me Da had a couple of 'celebratory' drinks before the nurse asked him what name he wanted on the birth certificate. Ma wasn't any help then which was a mistake because she has far better naming sense than Da; she was doped up on pain drugs.

I have no idea honestly. One of my grand-uncle had it for a name I think. It think Da was just drunk off his ass and wanted something 'special'.
